A man has spoken out about his ‘hell on Earth’ after he was physically and sexually abused by his father from the age of six.
The boy, now 19, was sent to live with his dad by a Family Court judge in Australia and suffered years of neglect and violence as a result.
Despite telling his mother about the abuse, it continued for seven years as he remained living in his father’s house.
“There were many times when he was abusing me physically and sexually of course. That was my very, very earliest memories,” the boy told the ABC .
“I walked out of the bathroom and he slammed my head into the corner of a wall for absolutely no reason. There was no reason behind it, he just wanted to let his anger out on me.”
By the age of 12, the boy was suicidal and began regularly running away from home and began showing up at police stations with cuts and bruises.
He begged them to let him live with his mother – but his pleas fell on deaf ears.
The man, who has been named under the pseudonym James, says he never wanted to live with his father, and was constantly counting down the hours at his mother’s house until he would be back wit his father.
A Family Court once again enforced that the boy should remain in his father’s custody – despite evidence of maltreatment.
Eventually police took out an order against the father on the boy’s behalf and he was placed into the care of authorities.
This, the man said, was the hardest time because he did not have any contact with his mother.
James made the shocking revelations as part of a family court system review by the Australian Law Reform Commission
It found the system posed an ‘unacceptable risk to children’ and allowed children to fall into harm.
