A 19-year-old Brit is in a critical condition after suffering serious head injuries in a 20ft fall from a hotel balcony.
The teen had just climbed over the balcony to retrieve a pair of headphones from a ledge below at the time of the accident, reports say.

His girlfriend, also 19, was metres away from him when he fell from the third-storey balcony.
A police source told The Sun : “The guy is lucky to be alive. He climbed over the railing to get his headphones which had fallen onto a ledge below.
”As he then climbed back over the railing gave way and he fell backwards hitting some stone coving and flower pots before landing in the courtyard.
”He has severe injuries to his head from the fall and also from being struck by debris as the balcony gave way. The girl he was with was treated for severe shock.”
Neighbours rang the emergency services after hearing his girlfriend’s screams and paramedics rushed the man to hospital.
He is currently in a critical condition in Careggi Hospital, according to Toscana Media .
A Foreign Office spokesman told Daily Star Online : “We are assisting a British man who has been hospitalised in Florence.
“Our staff are offering support to his family.”
