This is the moment a toddler left to play with his brother in a shopping centre got his fingers trapped in an escalator.
The shocking accident was caught on CCTV and shows the young boys going up the moving staircase.
The older boy, who looks about three, is standing facing looking back down the escalator as it carries the pair upwards.
But even more terrifying is the younger boy, who appears to be aged about one, laying on the steps, with his head facing down the up escalator.
The first boy manages to work out how to get off safely, and is waiting the top for the younger boy.
The tot then travels back over the mechanism and gets his fingers trapped in the metal.
The older boy spots the danger, and presumably the screams from the toddler and tries to free him.
He has no luck and leaves the tot with the escalator still running, to go and find help.
Eventually a shopkeeper rushes out and hits the emergency stop button before calling the fire service.
The boy was released by firefighters and was taken to hospital, although it is not known if his fingers could be saved.
His parents were still not on the scene.
A security guard told a Chinese video sharing platform, where the CCTV first appeared, that the parents did not com forward.
He said: “There are no adults with the boy at the time, as video shows.
“I guess the parents are doing shopping at that moment.”
